'Siat Api' or Fire war ritual is an ancient tradition that continues to grow in the village pakraman Duda, Selat, Karangasem district. These ritual is held as an attempt to neutralize the negative forces that exist in the village environment. With the hope that the village community avoid the things that are not desirable. In addition, fire flame is also interpreted as a test to control the emotions contained in the human psyche.

Siat api is usually held before the Usaba Dodol ceremony on 'Sasih Kesange'or the ninth month of Bali, coinciding with the dead moon (Waraspati Tilem) on 'Sasih Kaulu' or the eighth month of Bali. The tradition of fire fighting is carried out at the border of Duda Timur Village with Duda Village, precisely on the Tukad Sang-sang Bridge. The atmosphere becomes sacred because tradition takes place during 'Sandikala' or transition time from day to night.

Called war of fire because this tradition resembles war, it's just that used as a weapon is 'Prakpak' that made of old coconut leaves tied up and burned. The weapons used by the man who representatives from both villages to follow the tradition of fire warfare. Siat api is done by punching the prakpak containing the flame to the body of the opponent.

The Balinese traditional chairman or which called 'Bendesa Adat' of Duda Village, I Komang Sujana explained that the tradition interpreted as a purge of the universe and to restore the natural elements. "So hopefully, before the Usaba Dodol ceremony, we are clean in sekala and niskala," said Sujana during the procession on Friday (15/2/2018), yesterday.

The tradition of siat api in Desa Pakraman Duda actually existed since antiquity, but was stopped by the eruption of mount Agung in 1963. Then for the first time was held again in 2017 and this time in 2018 is for the second.
